“The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.” -Albert Einstein

We call it children’s creative development because it is not intended that every child taking art classes will become an Artist, although some children may indeed develop in that direction. Especially designed for younger students, these art classes are about developing the creative thinking ability of the brain. While school mainly focuses on educating the left brain where logic, math, and language are centered, budget cuts leave students with an under educated right brain, where creativity, imagination, spacial perception, curiosity, and intuitive thinking takes place.

” I am enough of an artist to draw freely upon my imagination. ” -Albert Einstein

Education studies and the science of learning have shown that students who participate in the arts at an early age also perform better academically and have higher SAT scores. ( This stems from a brain process called myelination.) Creative development is essential for younger students because they cant have a fully developed mind if we only educate half their brain. Creative problem solving skills are important in meeting life’s challenges in an ever faster changing world. Individuals who have been innovative and distinguished themselves in their career have done so because they were able to bring creativity and imagination into the process.

” It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken in creative expression and knowledge. ” -Albert Einstein
